In the last article, you learned how to buy a home theatre system complete with TV set and sound system. You also learned how to setup your newly bought home theatre system. In this guide, you will learn how to test your setup and which films to watch in the process.

There is no better way to start testing your setup then to re-watch this classic action movie. Why action movie? You need to test your sound system and see if there is any sound distortion and an action movie will help. The high pitch sound of firing bullets and rocket launchers will quickly help you understand your woofers.

Moulin Rogue

This is a musical classic and if you haven’t watched this movie yet, then this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Watching Moulin Rogue will help you test low frequencies because it is a musical masterpiece, and as such, there are a number of songs that will allow you to fine tune your sound system and plasma/UHD TV’s setting.

Harry Potter Series

I know, I know. There are a total of eight movies in the series, nine if you count the spin-off, but Harry Potter will offer you an opportunity to understand how black are the blacks are when the dark lord arrives! These movies are colorful and will allow you to test how good the colors are, and whether you have to change the brightness and contrast settings.

Of course, these are not the only movies you can watch to test your setup, and the list is not exhaustive, however, it will act as a good yardstick to understand the key issues that are plaguing your home theatre, if any at all.

Not testing before hand can ruin your experience when you call your friends over for a night out. You don’t want to be in that situation.
